Life Skills for Student Success

Overview

Welcome, new Bull!

As part of USF's commitment to your success, we provide engaging educational modules to help you with your transition to college. Life Skills for Student Success is an online program that provides incoming students with education on topics like alcohol, personal health, and healthy relationships.

Regarding the Life Skills Tiles in My Bulls Path

Because some of the modules are offered through third party organizations, the tiles will not be marked complete (turn green) like they do for some of the other tasks.

AlcoholEdu for College

As part USF鈥檚 commitment to fostering a safe campus community, we provide AlcoholEdu for College to all incoming undergraduate students. This interactive online program uses current evidence-based research to share information about alcohol and other drugs, including the physical, mental, and emotional effects. Whether you choose to use substances or not, the course provides information to help you make informed decisions about alcohol and other drugs, as well as contribute to a culture of awareness, intervention, and support.

The module consists of two parts. Part 1 takes about 60-90 minutes and Part 2 is a brief follow up that takes about 15 minutes. After completing Part 1, you will receive a notification when it is time to complete Part 2. Part 2 consists of an optional survey that helps assess course impact on campus climate and inform future prevention priorities. Responses to the surveys are confidential. You may skip any questions you prefer not to answer and stop participating at any time.

Sexual Assault Prevention (SAPU)

USF is committed to promoting a safe environment for all students, faculty, and staff. As part of this commitment, we provide the Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates (SAPU) program, which covers signs and dynamics of relationship abuse and other forms of violence, strategies for interrupting harm, best practices for consent, ways to support someone who has experienced violence, and relevant policies and laws. Interactive exercises take students through real-world scenarios and encourage students to contribute to a supportive campus environment.

The U.S. federal government mandates that our university complies with the educational requirements relating to sexual misconduct in Title IX and the Clery Act so that you understand the State of Florida definitions of these crimes, bystander intervention, risk reduction techniques, plus additional information.

The training consists of a single module, which takes about 30 minutes to complete.

These courses are for both incoming first year students and transfer students starting in the 2025 summer or fall semester.*

If you are a transfer student who has completed AlcoholEdu at another institution, this requirement will be waived with proof of completion. You must submit a copy of the course completion screenshot and/or email you received directly to your campus contact before the deadline. Your name must be visible in the screenshot in order to receive credit.  SAPU cannot be waived.

*Spring 2025 students will also receive the SAPU course.

You must earn a score of 80% or higher on AlcoholEdu and SAPU to successfully complete the modules.
