PCGS Launches New Undergrad Course

PCGS announces a new undergrad course designed to introduce key sustainability topics. Taught by Dr. Lauren Bates, Introduction to Global Sustainability invites students from all majors to examine some of the pressing sustainability issues facing the world today, while learning how to develop solutions that can be applied both locally and globally.

Hannah Nistler - Alumni Spotlight

Hannah Nistler, a Patel College of Global Sustainability (PCGS) alumna, has built a career advancing sustainability at the municipal level. Before starting her master鈥檚 degree in Sustainability, she gained hands-on experience through initiatives like We Are Neutral. She also worked on projects with the 色色研究所 St. Petersburg, during her undergraduate in Sustainability Studies, building her practical understanding of community-focused sustainability.

Her passion for the field began long before ESG became a corporate priority.

Anthony Halcyon, Senior Environmental Scientist, shared his personal journey from protecting Florida鈥檚 water resources to joining global research expeditions in Montenegro, where he helped document one of the last wild rivers. Scholarship awardees and Dean George Philippidis

Patel College awards $16,000 in scholarships

The Patel College of Global Sustainability honored a diverse group of students who are turning their passion for the planet into action at the Butz and Patel Distinguished Scholar Award Ceremony. The event awarded a total of six scholarships amounting to $16,000 (four $2,500 Butz Scholarship awards and two $3,000 Patel Distinguished Scholarship awards).

On Wednesday, October 15th, the Sustainability Speaker Series featured Dr. Dell deChant, an instructor in the Department of Religious Studies at the 色色研究所. Dr. deChant also leads the USF Food Sovereignty Group and works closely with the New Port Richey FarmNet, where he promotes sustainable, community-based food practices.
