Professor Maya Trotz Elected as a Fellow by the Association of Environmental Engineering & Science Professors (AEESP)
Professor Maya Trotz has been named a Fellow of the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors. The recognition honors her groundbreaking research and long-standing commitment to community-engaged environmental science. Her work addresses coral reef survival, nutrient pollution and water equity with global relevance. Named an NSF-KADF Ocean Decade Champion in both 2023 and 2024, Trotz continues to raise the bar for research impact. Mantis Shrimp鈥檚 Shock-Absorbing Phononic Shields: USF Engineering Faculty鈥檚 Role in New Study
Assistant Professor Meisam Asgari, from the Department of Medical Engineering at USF, was recently recognized for his contribution to a research paper published in Science (Vol. 387, Issue 6734, pp. 659鈥�66). The study, titled Does the Mantis Shrimp Pack a Phononic Shield? explores the impact-resistant properties of the peacock mantis shrimp鈥檚 dactyl club.
