Amber Brown, Ph.D.

Amber Brown, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of instruction and program coordinator in early childhood education whose work focuses on strengthening mathematics education and teacher preparation for early learners.

Brown is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program. She also serves as the Undergraduate Program and Clinical Experiences Coordinator for ECE.

Before joining academia, She spent nearly a decade as an elementary teacher and mathematics coach, supporting students and educators across grades PreK–8. She earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and M.A.T. in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida, as well as a B.A. in Criminology from the University of Florida.

Brown’s professional and research interests focus on enhancing mathematics education and teacher preparation at the early childhood and elementary levels. She is dedicated to empowering both preservice and in-service teachers to translate their passion and understanding of mathematics and learning into meaningful, engaging experiences for their students.

Honors

Amber Brown, Ph.D. is an active member of the , where she serves on the program committee for the organization’s annual conference. In 2024, she was selected as a member of the AMTE STaR (Service, Teaching, and Research) Fellows Cohort—a prestigious program that supports early career faculty in advancing their professional expertise and national collaboration in mathematics education.
