A new project aims to improve recruiting in the criminal justice field. Led by Mateus R. Santos, PhD, and Chae Jaynes, PhD, associate professors in the Department of Criminology, the effort is part of a three-year collaboration among colleges, universities, and law enforcement agencies across Florida, and supported by a grant from Arnold Ventures.
"We hope our project will help address the recruiting crisis affecting agencies across the U.S. and explore why some of the best prospective candidates are reticent to join law enforcement and what can be done to attract them to those careers," said Santos.
Arnold Ventures is a philanthropy focused on evidence-based solutions in key issue areas: health, criminal justice, infrastructure, public finance, higher education, affordable housing, climate and energy, and democracy.
