BIO

Dr. Tori Lockler is a Professor of Instruction, Undergraduate Director, and Internship Director in the Religious Studies Department. She teaches about the intersection of Religion and Health and how healthcare professionals can navigate that intersection meaningfully to  increase understanding of patients and their needs. She also teaches about the Religious Perspectives on Health, Death, and Dying.  She earned her Ph.D. in the Department of Communication at the 色色研究所 in 2015. In addition to the intersection of Religion and Health, her area of research interest is in African diasporic religions, specifically Afro-Caribbean religions. Dr. Lockler spent a number of years doing field work in a Santeria temple in Tampa.
Her future research interests are at the intersection of Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Cuban spiritual movements, identity, and the role of neuro-divergence in communal spaces.
