Courses delivered through the USF First Year Abroad Program have been mapped out for tranferrability, which means the credits you earn abroad will fulfill University of South Florida degree requirements. 

Please note the following items you will need to complete in order to ensure a successful transition to USF after your first year abroad:

Minimum requirements

• Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher.
• Complete at least 24 transferable credits of coursework.

Selective Majors

Some programs at USF are competitive, and transfer admission is not automatically guaranteed. For admission into a selective major you must also fulfill the major-specific criteria.

*Any credits earned through dual enrollment or prior learning credits do not count towards the program transferable earned credit hours requirement.

Participants are provided with comprehensive health and safety support throughout their time abroad.  Our partner maintains established risk management and crisis response protocols and ensures that on-site leaders receive training in emergency preparedness and response.

As part of the program experience, students are provided with travel health insurance which is included in the program cost and remains active for the full duration of the student鈥檚 time overseas.

The program also offers emergency support services, including medical evacuation, emergency evacuation, if necessary. These services provide an additional layer of protection and support for students participating in international programs.
